Marc Copland – Modinha

This transcription is of Marc Copland‘s solo on Antonio Carlos Jobim’s tune “Modinha,” from Modinha – The New York Trio Recordings Vol. 1, which was released on Pirouet Records in 2007. Marc Copland, piano; Gary Peacock, bass; Bill Stewart, drums. Transcription.

I currently have a giant backlog of transcriptions that need to be put into Finale, and I hope to get one or two more up in the next week or so!

Frank Kimbrough – Lucent

This transcription is of Frank Kimbrough‘s solo on his tune “Lucent” from the album Play, which was released in 2006 on Palmetto Records. I transcribed the tune several years ago, and have played it at a couple gigs, but I just recently got around to transcribing the solo. Frank Kimbrough, piano; Masa Kamaguchi, bass; Paul Motian, drums. Lead sheet. Transcription.

More transcriptions coming soon!

Keith Jarret – Oleo

This transcription is of Keith Jarrett’s solo on “Oleo” from My Foolish Heart: Live in Montreaux. It was recorded in 2001, and released in 2007 on ECM. I find this solo exemplifies the looseness of the Keith Jarrett Trio, because Jarrett skips an “A” section in chorus 7 and gets lost shortly thereafter. Keith Jarrett, piano; Gary Peacock, bass; Jack DeJohnette, drums. Transcription
